I don’t know about you, but spending time with my partner is one of my favourite times of day. However, there’s a difference between spending time watching TV and getting housework done, and actually spending real quality time together. Quality time is lots of fun, and can bring you closer together in the long run. I have some ideas here for all kinds of tastes and budgets – take a look and you and your partner could be having fun bonding in no time.
Have A Posh Night In
You don’t need to go to a Michelin star restaurant to have an awesome time. Why not have your own posh night in instead? It’s worth trying to see how it goes. You can choose a film in advance, put your favourite bottle of whatever you like on ice, and even get all dressed up! One of you could make the main meal and the other dessert. Make sure you act like you’re on a posh night out and it’ll be so much fun! Remember you have to talk like Stephen Fry while doing this, its the law.
Get Active Together
They say that couples who get active together, stay together. Maybe you could play tennis, squash, or even just go for a nice walk somewhere scenic. Get your sweat on and those chemicals should make you feel closer together. I love going on walks with my boyfriend, its a great way to just chat and stay close to each other mentally.
Recreate Your First Date
If you had a special first date, why not recreate it? You could go to the same restaurant, wear similar outfits, even watch the same film at home! You could even role play a little and pretend you don’t know one another all that well yet. It could be fun. I’m not judging! The club me and my boyfriend met at is closing down soon so we may just need to do this one before its too late!
Take A Special Trip
If you feel like you and your other half need some serious quality time, why not take a special trip together? It’s not like we can do this all the time, but you should definitely try to take at least a nice weekend away once a year. You could be taking a gondola together or sampling the unique cuisine of somewhere exotic.
Get Creative And Find New Hobbies
Why don’t you and your partner get creative together? You could even find new hobbies that you love! I’m assuming you’ve watched Ghost, where the two main characters try out pottery. They weren’t very good at it, but they seemed to enjoy themselves didn’t they? You could both paint, make jewellery…anything that takes your fancy. If you both have individual hobbies anyway, why not indulge in one another’s hobbies? You might not like golf like your partner does, but having a go at it with them won’t hurt you (well, it probably won’t, just watch where you stand)!
Make Them Feel Special
Maybe you’d like to show your partner how much you appreciate them. Go out of your way to make them feel special. Make them their favourite meal. Maybe run them a bath and make them a cocktail. When we’ve been together for a while, we kind of just assume our partner knows how we feel. This isn’t always the case, so show your appreciation! After all, if you do something nice for them, a back massage might be on its way.
Remember, this quality time is about the two of you. If you have kids, get a babysitter. In my case, I’ll be getting a catsitter! Have fun!
