You spend a lot of time in your kitchen If you like to cook it is often the place in your home where people like to gather and gossip. It can be a social area, and when yummy food is cooking, happy people will always follow. If you love being in your kitchen, you’re probably proud of it. If you’re not proud of it, maybe it’s time you gave it a little makeover! There are so many things that can be done to freshen up the appearance of a kitchen. There’s nothing worse than not wanting to cook because you don’t want to enter the room, believe me I’ve been there, and that’s when you end up eating pizza or cereal for every meal. Your kitchen should be a sanctuary and a safe place where you can enjoy your time and cook up a feast! You don’t have to completely fit a new kitchen to breath new life into the space. All you have to do is make a few positive changes, and you’ll start to feel a difference.
- Invest in new flooring
If you’re looking to give your kitchen a bit of a refurbishment, a new floor will get you off to a solid start. The kitchen floor is one area that suffers a lot of wear and tear. If you have a dark wood floor, you might be losing out on the idea of space in your kitchen; Light colored flooring will instantly make a room look a bit bigger. You can also make choices based on durability. You want to choose a design, and that is built to last. Although changing the flooring isn’t the easiest or cheapest option; it will completely change the look of the room and there are cheaper options you can go for, like I used the wooden floor my mum pulled up from her living room and my amazing brother fitted it for me.
- Replace the small things
You might have been using the same dustbin in your kitchen for years. A quick change of style can instantly make the room look different, and it won’t cost you much money at all. Upgrade your fixtures and fitting with styles from Tap Warehouse and you can even consider changing door handles to mix things up a bit. Changing little things around the kitchen will probably improve functionality and your cooking skills! It’s so much easier to cook well in a space where you’re not constantly bouncing your hip off a strangely placed door handle.
- Clean clean clean
It’s incredible just how much junk you can accumulate in a kitchen! You probably have cupboards full of empty takeaway containers and a draw full of slightly blunt knives. A great way to make your kitchen feel fresh and new is to clear away all of the junk. Chuck things away and start to get tidy. This will also ensure your kitchen is kept clean and tidy too! It’s also a good time to buy new utensils if yours are old.
- Brighten things up
If you have a small kitchen, it’s going to be worth freshening up the space with a nice, clean lick of paint. You don’t have to spend a fortune on expensive colors either. A simply white will give your room a new lease of life. If you want to add a bit of color, simply decorate with a contrasting trim. Add even more interest by including some colourful tiles. I can’t wait to paint my new kitchen white, i absolutely despise magnolia.
