Kiah’s post for day 5 of Blogmas was ‘The Christmas Tag’ and she was lovely enough to tag me in it! I’m not sure I’ve ever been tagged to do one of these before so I’m excited to get on with it!
1 What is your favourite Christmas film?
Nativity! I know its one of those Christmas films that are really meant for kids, but we watched this in my drama class in my last year of high school and we all adored it. We quoted it for weeks and since there were only eight of us in the class it kind of made us feel like a little family. It’s really funny too, and grumpy Martin Freeman is always hilarious.
2 Have you ever had a white Christmas?
Yes! We had several while living in Denmark but my first one was while we were in the UK when I was eight or nine. My great uncle and aunt stayed with us that Christmas, which was essentially a huge honour because they never stayed with anyone, and my mum had bought me a rainbow hat, scarf and glove set as though she knew it was going to snow. Me and my brothers spent hours having snowball fights and I built my first snowman!
3 Where do you usually spend your holiday?
I always spend Christmas with my mum, she really gets into the festive season and makes the day super special even though the Christmas magic of childhood has faded. Usually I stay over on Christmas eve but this year I’ll be waking up and having breakfast with Rich, so we’ll be able to open our presents together before going to my mums for more presents and Christmas dinner!
4 What is your favourite Christmas Song?
Fairytale of New York by The Pogues! I just adore this song because I feel like it combines that little bit of nostalgic sadness that I feel around Christmas time with the over all joy of the season, plus who doesn’t want to spend Christmas in New York?!
5 Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
Yes! I have family in Denmark and my dad was Danish so they celebrate on Christmas eve, which meant that as a kid we got to open our presents from Danish family on Christmas eve. It was incredibly exciting as a kid and all of my friends were very jealous.
6 Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?
I am slightly ashamed but no, I cant. I can only name five.
7 What holiday traditions are you looking forward to most this year?
Every year me and Rich go into Liverpool the week before Christmas and have a cosy day wondering around and drinking a lot of hot chocolate and then end it by taking a selfie in front of the big tree, and I thoroughly enjoy that. I also can’t wait to make some Danish rice pudding and Christmas cookies!
8 Is your Christmas Tree real or fake?
Usually its real but this year we wouldn’t be able to afford a real one until the 21st because of when Rich gets paid so we will be having a fake one. I’m a little sad about it.
9 What is your all-time favourite holiday food/sweet treat?
When we lived in Denmark my cousin always made a rice pudding with almonds in and a cherry compote type thing on top and it was the best thing I’ve ever eaten. I’m hoping to figure out a vegan recipe for it, which I will of course share in a blog post!
10 Be honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?
Honestly I’m pretty even on both, I love receiving presents but I also love giving them because I really try to put some thought into the gifts I give and try to make the wrapping look really pretty and festive. I just love presents in general and whether I’m giving them or receiving them I’ll be happy!
11 What is the best Christmas Gift you’ve ever received?
My mum got me a TARDIS teapot for Christmas when I was 16 and that was the best gift I’ve ever gotten. I know it sounds a bit lame but I had spent years lusting over this tea pot and its something I still use regularly because of how much I love it.
12 What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
I know I’ve already been in Denmark for the holiday season but that would still be my first choice. Danish Christmas is just such a cosy time and it almost always snows, plus I have family there which is the most important part of Christmas.
13 Are you a pro-present wrapper, or do you fail miserably?
It varies, some of the presents I wrap look incredible, if I do say so myself, and others look like my cats wrapped them. I have no idea why it happens but I just can’t make them all look good.
14 Most memorable Holiday moment?
Though I have many lovely Christmas memories, the one that honestly sticks out the most would be Christmas of 2013 when my little cousin vomited her Christmas dinner back onto the plate. I was the only one that found it funny.
15 What made you realise the truth about Santa?
I stole my big brothers Goosebumps book so he told me Santa isn’t real, its just mum.
16 Do you make New Years resolutions? Do you stick to them?
I do! This is the first year that I have actually stuck to them though. I’m hoping I stick to next years resolutions as well as I have this years.
17 What makes the holidays special for you?
Being able to see my friends and family really get into all the cheer. My mum smiles more around Christmas than she does the rest of the year and I really love that. Also all the little moments like cuddling up to Rich with a hot chocolate to watch a Christmas film and helping my mum hang all the decorations and decorate the tree. I just really love Christmas.
I don’t have anyone to tag since Kiah has already gone and done this tag and tagged Ellie, so I just tag any bloggers reading this! It’s such a fun tag and I’d love to read more peoples posts with it!
