Around this time of year there are a lot of scents we all enjoy smelling to give us a little of that festive cheer we all want, scents like cinnamon and peppermint are especially Christmassy I think but there are so many others too! I’ve been really enjoying having festive scents in my home for when friends and family come over and though it can be hard to keep it smelling like that all the time, here are some of the things I do to keep it around.
Candles are so cosy at this time of year, they give off that warm glow and there are so many different scents and look to choose from. Especially at this time of year there are so many scents to choose from, theres guaranteed to be at least one that you love. Pine scents are especially fun if you don’t have a real tree!
Room scents are something I’m only just getting into but I’m really impressed by how long they stick around, this one especially is only £1.99 from B&M but it hangs around for days and really smells beautiful. Especially with someone with cats that use a litter box, its nice having something to spray about if one of them decides to use the bathroom immediately before we have guests.
Simmer pots are my go to thing to make the whole house smell lovely right before people come over, I tend to use a few splashes of peppermint oil, half a lemon or orange, star anise and cinnamon sticks, then just fill up the pan with water and let it simmer on a medium heat until just before company arrives. These are really versatile and you can use so many different things, sliced apples and cinnamon sticks are especially lovely but you could get some pine needles for a Christmas tree smell or oranges and cloves, the possibilities are pretty endless!
Out of all the ways you can keep your house smelling nice, these are my favourites and definitely very low effort!
