It’s the time of year thats cold and dark, which leads a lot of us to watching films in the evening (and rest of the day, or is that just me?) rather than the fun outside activities we do in warmer weather. Especially now its December I’ve been watching a lot more Christmas films and wanted to share my 4 absolute favourites with you!
Now, I know a lot of you might not think A Little Princess is a Christmas film and I disagree. I’m pretty sure at least part of it is set during Christmas for one, and as we know from Die Hard thats what makes a Christmas film, and theres also snow in it. I also connect it to Christmas because my mum got it for me on VHS for Christmas when I was really young. It’s a heartwarming, touching story and the perfect thing to watch at Christmas, especially with kids.
Santa Claus the Movie can’t be argued though, I don’t need to argue at all because its literally about Santa. Every year until I was about 11 we would sit down on Christmas eve after my mum had made us all tidy our rooms, have a shower and change into our PJ’s and watch this film. It’s a classic that isn’t boring and I have such fond memories of it that it has to be a favourite.
If you skip all the way back to The Christmas Tag you can read some more about why I love Nativity so much, but for those of you who don’t want to its the funniest Christmas film I’ve ever watched, its incredibly British and its so stupid that I love it.
Finally, The Nightmare Before Christmas. I loved it during my demo phase in high school but sort of grew out of it, until last year when Rich became obsessed with it and I was drawn in with him. We watch this multiple times a year starting in October and I’m not ashamed to admit that.
