With all the rain we’ve been having here in the UK, it seems like the perfect time to talk about ways you can use rainwater for your Wiccan practice! Of course like anything with Wicca, you can and totally should alter any of this to better fit you and what you’re trying to do, but here’s what I like to do when I have an excess of rainwater about!
I think the thing we all know is most obvious is using it to cleanse crystals, and I totally use it for that too, but I also love leaving a crystal in some for a while and then using that crystal infused water to cleanse and protect the house! I just get a nice clean cloth and wipe the infused water on my door and window frames with intention and it’s a great way to both clean something you might usually forget to and also incorporate that little bit of magic to your everyday life.
A little less obvious is that I like to put some in my baths! It’s such a great way to cleanse and god knows I need to cleanse myself of some of the people who have recently spread their negativity to me once again. I love putting fresh herbs and flowers into my bath (after making sure I have one of those little trays over my plug!) according to what I feel like I need and being able to add that extra cleansing element is so easy and nice.
I haven’t gotten round to it yet, but at some point I’d really like to make some rose or lavender water with some rainwater too, and my mum swears that if you soak fresh mint leaves, orange peels and cinnamon sticks in rain water and sprinkle it by your front door it’ll bring money opportunities towards you.
Finally, I’ve recently used rainwater in a jar spell! I mentioned that someone who holds a lot of negativity has tried to pop into my life again however briefly so I did what I do best and immediately put together a binding spell in the hopes of getting them to leave me alone. It’s working so far! Rainwater can be used in any spell jar that needs a little extra purification, blessing or cleansing and I think it really adds a lot of power.
