I’ve been in a serious Winona Ryder phase again for the last few weeks, I’ve loved her since I was about 13 but every now and again I love her a bit extra, and I looooove the way she styled loose, masculine looking T-shirts back in the 80’s and 90’s. Obviously, I had to try to just totally copy her. I stole a pair of my boyfriends pants that are baggy and got to work!
I wanted this to be as simple as possible, but also able to be undone if Rich needs his pants back at any point since they are to his suit. To make sure it’s reversible, I didn’t cut any fabric at all. I put the pants on and folded the sides until they fitted my waist the way I wanted, then pinned the fold in place and took them off.
With them inside out, I did what I think is a blanket stitch along the side of the fold and along the top, as you can see in the picture below. The stitching is super sturdy and easy to do by hand since I don’t have a sewing machine, but you’d only have to cut a couple of threads to be able to pull it out and have the pants look like nothing ever happened to them.
That’s all there is to it! You really only need the most basic of sewing skills to do this and it can come in handy for so many situations outside of trying to be Winona Ryder. I didn’t manage to get a good picture to show these pants off yet so you might want to follow me on Instagram since I’ll for sure show them off there at some point!
I did also cuff them, but I just ironed that in place rather than sewing.
Let me know if you try this or know if any better ways to do it!
