I’ve always been the type of person to just sit on my couch or in bed to do work on my laptop. It’s comfy, it’s casual, I felt okay with it. Now that I’m writing for my own blog and over on purplerevolver.com, I thought it was time to get myself a desk, and it was the perfect decision.

It’s more organised
I only have one small draw, which fits my laptop, and some shelves next to my desk, but it’s allowed me to organise all my art and writing supplies in a way I’ve never had the chance to before. It’s so much easier to work, and find the things I need, and I don’t have to get out of bed and go searching around the house for that pen or notebook I need.
It’s healthier
It wasn’t until I started sitting up properly at a desk in a real chair, that I realised how much my back and neck ached when I worked on the couch or wherever. Its so much more comfortable, and I’m sure it must be healthier because I feel so much better.
It’s a mind set
I’ve always been a ‘oh I’ll just make a cuppa for while I work, oooh what about some toast too yeah, oh is the cat crying? Better take an hour to comfort her’, where as now I sit down at my desk, and it’s work time. It gives me a much better mind set to work in, I’ve been getting things done to a higher quality in the same or even less time, and when I put everything away and move back to the couch, I’m not in work mode still.

It’s REALLY a mind set
I really feel so much more confident in my capabilities while sat at my desk. It’s silly, but it feels like a professional setting, and that makes me act more professionally. I feel more driven to really put my all into each project, and I think it’s been showing in my recent work.
So if you don’t have a desk, now is the time to get one! If you already do, do you feel like I do about mine?
