My Thrifted Kitchen!

I moved out of my parents home, into my first flat along with Rich, when I was 17, so it’s safe to say we didn’t have much money. I knew from the very start that I wanted a sort of miss-matched, cobbled together style, and luckily enough, charity shops offer exactly that!

I’d already started collecting mugs before we even moved out, and I definitely need to stop…soon! I have a few from Maine, two Disney ones, including the Monster inc one pictured, that were still in their super 90’s Disney Florida boxes, and they’ve all cost less than £2 each! The cupboard is overflowing with mugs at this point though, so I should probably stop buying every cool one I see.

We started out with plain white plates someone gifted us, but just before we moved into the house we’re in now, I found this kinda 70’s/80’s plate and bowl set, and I fell in love. I think they’re kinda ugly, but I love that!

Not too long later, I found these bad boys! It’s now my goal to get a bunch of these decorative side plates, but I’m yet to find just a couple rather than a full set. I really want them all to be different, but equally pretty, so I’m keeping my eye out!

My utensils are along my absolute favourite things in the kitchen. We had one of these hand mixers when I was a kid, and I always loved it, so when I spotted this one for about £1, I snatched it up! The rolling pin was a hand me down from my mum, and the wooden spoon was a hand me down from my dad, who thrifted it! It has a ceramic cupcake on the top, and the woman in the shop told my dad it had only ever been used to make cakes, so I’ve kept that tradition!

Glasses are my most recent thrifting obsession! We’ve always had random glasses, mostly from HMV because I can’t resist Lord of the Rings or Back to the Future merch, but these glasses were only 50p each, and they’ve awoken something in me!

I know having a random, mismatched kitchen definitely isn’t for everyone, and I’d be lying if I said I’m not impressed by people that have everything matching, but these are all little things that I use on the daily, that make me happy, and that’s enough for me!
