One Year of Kittens!

That’s right everybody, today is the kittens first birthday! I’d say I don’t know where the time has gone, but we’ve been in lockdown almost the whole time so I really actually do. Plus Ringo is now huge and Otis is pretty much the size of a normal cat.

They couldn’t have been born at a better time though, this last year has been rough for everyone, and I’ve found the last few months especially difficult, so it’s been a saviour for my mental health to have these two fluff balls running about full of adorable chaos and mischief.

It’s been so fun and entertaining to watch them grow their own personalities and settle in with Jodie and Allie, though Otis still hasn’t figured out that Allie doesn’t want to be washed anytime she sits near him. There’s not a day where they don’t make me feel better in some way, whether they’re just playing together or doing something I should probably stop them from doing, like when Ringo decides it’s time to flop down wherever I’m trying to walk to.

If you’ve kept up with the kittens you’ll know we decided they were going to be a permanent part of the family pretty quickly, but there was still a part in the back of my mind thinking one of them would eventually be rehomed since 4 cats is a little much. There is definitely no chance of that now, they’re absolutely a part of the family just like Allie and Jodie, and there’s no chance of them going anywhere.

It’s crazy to think how much they’ve grown and changed in the last year, and it’s been really special to be able to experience them growing from being little blue eyes babies to real cats that are annoying and silly and lovely. From all the sleepless nights when Otis was ill, to all the sleepless nights because Ringo figured out he can meow super loud if the food bowl is empty, I wouldn’t change a single thing about either of them.
