Carry on Beautiful!

Saturday seemed like a great day to get out of the house and finally do something new, now that we’re allowed to. I’ve had my eye on Planet Vegan Diner for a while now, so it was about time I finally got there! Nestled half way down Lark Lane in Liverpool it matches its surroundings perfectly, being a little quirky and very cool!

They have possibly the most extensive menu I’ve seen in a local diner, and the best part is that of course it’s all vegan! Being a little low on money at the minute, we couldn’t afford to try the whole menu, so we went for a shake each and some Mac and cheese to share. Its probably my new favourite place in Liverpool for a simple and cheap date, though the menu is so tempting it’d be easy to spend more than you mean to!

I haven’t had a milkshake since I went vegan back in 2017, and I couldn’t have asked for a better one to come back to! Thick enough to take a moment to crawl up the straw, but thin enough to be actually drinkable, add in that the flavours are absolutely spot on and it might have been the best shake I’ve ever had. The cream on top and syrup down the sides were the perfect finishing touches to turn it into a drink I’m still thinking about.

Then, there’s the Mac and cheese. As a £4 side dish, we were expecting a pretty tiny portion, and it was actually kind of massive! Not too big, but plenty to fill both of us up for lunch. Most importantly, it was an absolute joy to eat. Cheesy, hot and filling, the crispy onions and other seasonings worked perfectly to make this side something I was perfectly happy to have as a meal, and for that price it’s going to be tempting to get it a lot more often than I should!

Obviously, the food is by far the most important part, and since they’ve nailed that it shouldn’t be a surprise that they’ve also crafted a fantastic atmosphere. The diner vibes are just impeccable, I clearly adore the colour scheme since I accidentally dressed to match, and all the posters and music they played were right in line with what I’m into! The staff were also all really friendly, everything arrived to us super quickly despite them being fairly busy, and I felt very safe with how clean it was, the distance being maintained and all the staff following the guidelines we’ve all had drilled into us.

Planet Vegan is truly out of this world, 10/10, 5 stars, I can’t wait to go again, and next time probably try one of the delicious looking hot dogs I saw someone else order! They’ve perfected everything from the food to the aesthetic, and I’m sure my next visit will be followed by many more! I love this place, I’m practically ready to move in, and I would recommend it to anyone whether you’re usually vegan or not.
